The Homicide "Spree" in Little Rock

I've received several calls and inquiries about the spate of killings now happening in Little Rock about whether or not they are signs of a gang war. NO they are not. While some of the persons involved either as victims or as suspects or witnesses may have a past gang-related history, it appears that none of this group of incidents are related to one another.
The police will develop their cases in their own time and fashion. The Little Rock Police Department is being led by Chief Stuart Thomas who was a long-time homicide detective, and a damned good one I might add. Thomas is very much hands-on and there are some seasoned and good detectives working the cases. It is important to remember that the police must make their cases and theories fit the facts at hand, not the other way around. Give them some time, let them work.
I believe this anomaly will calm down and things will be back to an even keel very soon. However, we must continue the vigilance and recognize the importance of prevention, intervention and treatment programs in the battle for the lives of our young people. Steve
