Two Articles From New Jersey

Check out "Circle of Violence," where a New Jersey Senator speaks out against the increasing gang violence in his state and across the United States.

...The Legislature can act to crack down on gang-related crimes and make it harder for them to operate. But this only addresses the symptoms. The disease will just adapt and find new ways to harm our communities. In the short term, this will provide temporary relief but ultimately, we need a long-term cure.

Employment and education are essential tools to combating this societal ill. Our young people need to stay in school and must have access to job opportunities. However, the most important element is what takes place inside the home. Unlike our country's continuous war on terrorism, the war on gangs does not require us to "smoke them out of the caves" but instead "get them off our streets."

And for the sake of our cities, suburbs and most importantly, our children, this is a war we cannot afford to lose..."
